Donating Clothing & Essentials
Donating clothing, toiletries and other essentials is one of the most practical ways that you can help AARC. Read more about the types of donations that we are able to accept and often desperately short of below.
Clothing
Most of the people that we support are men, so we only accept donations of male clothing. When we do receive other donations such a female clothing, we pass these on to other local charities so they can be given to someone in need.
Our service users can be any age from 18+ so we try to have a wide range of sizes and styles and clothes for all weathers and occasions.
The type of clothing that we are always desperately short of includes:
socks and underwear
vests, thermals and t-shirts
long sleeved t-shirts
jumpers
jackets
hats & scarves
shoes and trainers
gym clothing
workwear (for volunteering tasks such as gardening).
We accept new and quality used clothing - all we ask is that it’s clean and ready to be distributed.
Toiletries
We distribute Care Packs to new arrivals and also support our service users with toiletries - most receive no money at all for the first two months, and thereafter have to live on £8.86/week.
The sort of items we are always short of includes:
shaving foam and razors
soap
shower gel
shampoo and conditioner
toothpaste and toothbrushes
mouthwash and dental floss
cotton buds
toilet roll
wet wipes.
Other stuff!
We also at times need and distribute ‘other stuff’ so below is an example of the types of donations that we are able to accept:
manicure kits
sewing kits
notebooks, paper and pens/pencils/stationary kits
postage stamps
phones
laptops
tablets
e-readers
books
musical instruments (e.g. guitars)
board games
bicycles and scooters.
We just ask that any of the below are in working condition.
AARC are also moving to our brand new hub soon, so we are interested in hearing from you if you can donate:
computer equipment
office or reception furniture
pool table
TV
kitchen equipment (microwave, kettle, toaster etc)
tables and chairs.
