Hello YPI Groups and Young Fundraisers!

At Asylum and Refugee Care (AARC), we believe in the power of young people to drive social change and make a real difference in their communities. Whether you’re participating in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) or taking on your own fundraising challenge, your support helps us provide essential care and support for people seeking asylum in the North East of Scotland.

Did you know….?

Nearly 25% of the people that we support are <21 and we often support unaccompanied young people seeking asylum who are struggling to challenge inaccurate ages allocated by the Home Office. You can read more about this here. At any one time, we are normally supporting about 100 young people seeking asylum.

Your support matters!

Young people like you have the energy, creativity, and determination to inspire real change. When you choose to support AARC, you are not only raising vital funds, but you are also raising awareness of the challenges faced by some of the most vulnerable members of society. Your efforts can help us provide basic needs like clothing and food, and help new arrivals feel welcome, safe, and supported as they rebuild their lives.

How You Can Get Involved:

  1. YPI Projects – If you're taking part in the YPI, why not choose AARC as your charity? Research the challenges faced by people seeking asylum, present your findings, and help us secure vital funding that allows us to continue our work. You'll be helping to change lives, and we’ll be here to support you every step of the way. We are in the process of developing a dedicated YPI Pack which will be available for download from our website, but in the meantime, just contact us and we will help you find all of the information that you need for your project.

  2. Host a Fundraiser – Whether it’s a bake sale, fun run, or sponsored walk, fundraising is a fun way to get your friends and community involved. Every penny raised goes directly towards supporting people seeking asylum in Scotland.

  3. Organise a Collection Drive – Gather donations of clothing, toiletries, or other essentials that people seeking asylum often arrive without. Your school, sports team, or community group can help provide these much-needed items to those starting over in a new country.

  4. Raise Awareness – Use your voice on social media to spread the word about the work AARC does. Share stories, statistics, and your own experiences to help others understand the importance of supporting people seeking asylum and dispel some of the myths and misconceptions that exist.

  5. Volunteer Your Time – If you’re looking for a hands-on way to help, consider volunteering with us. Whether it's sorting donations or helping at events, your time and enthusiasm can make a huge difference to the people we support.

Why Your Support Matters:

Young people like you have the power to create a fairer, more inclusive world. By supporting AARC, you are taking a stand for kindness, compassion, and human rights. You’re helping to ensure that everyone, no matter where they come from, is given the chance to rebuild their lives in safety and with dignity.

Together, we can make a huge difference in the lives of people seeking asylum, showing them that they are welcome and valued members of our community.
