Volunteering

AARC is a community group that is entirely volunteer led. We couldn’t do what we do without the amazing people who give up their time to support us.

Corporate Volunteering for Teams and Individuals

Does your company give teams time to go out and volunteer in the community? Or are you as an individual allowed time off to volunteer? If so, get in touch as we’d love to hear from you! We often have opportunities to support at the AARC Hub including:

  • collecting donations from various collection points throughout the city

  • sorting and processing incoming donations

  • making up care packages for new arrivals

  • undertaking fundraising activities on our behalf.

Give us your time!

Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and in our case, support people who are new to the local area and endeavouring to make a fresh start. Given that we support people who are at times extremely vulnerable, our preference is for regular volunteers. All we ask is that you’re able to commit to a minimum number of hours per month.

Our volunteering opportunities are varied and can include things like:

  • collecting donations from various collection points throughout the city

  • sorting and processing incoming donations

  • making up care packages for new arrivals

  • supporting with admin tasks, answering the phone and responding to online enquiries

  • keeping our online presence up to date i.e. social media and our website

  • befriending new arrivals and supporting with important tasks such as registering with a GP or Dentist

  • helping our service users to write and respond to emails from their Solicitors and/or the Home Office.

We provide full training to all of our volunteers - you won’t be asked to do anything that you aren’t comfortable with or that you haven’t been trained to do. Given the nature of our work, we follow the Safe Recruitment procedures outlined by Volunteer Scotland. You can use the form below to contact us and find out more about current and future opportunities.
